Is John the Baptist the same person as John the Apostle (author of John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, and Revelation)?

No, they are not the same.

John the Baptist was Jesus’s cousin, the son of Zechariah, six months older than Jesus (which is how some believe Sept 4th to be Jesus birthday but that is another discussion), the person who Baptized Jesus, sent some of his disciples to Jesus, was the messenger to tell of Jesus coming, and was imprisoned and executed within a year of Jesus Ministry. His head was a present to his daughter Salome.

John the Apostle was one of Jesus’s disciples, had a brother James who was also a disciple, was the son of Zebedee, and partnered in a fishing business with Peter and Andrew (also disciples of Jesus), took care of Jesus’s mother after the crucifixion, and was the last of the 12 Disciples to die.
