Jesus Christ is the incarnate Word of God, the Creator and Savior of the world, the founder of Christianity, and part of the Triune God as the Son of God. He is a human being who is also fully God.
Jesus Christ is a composite name made up of the personal name, Jesus, and the title, Christ.
Jesus, iēsous is derived from the Ancient Greek form of the Hebrew and Aramaic name Yeshua meaning Yahweh Saves, or salvation.
Christ – is derived from Greek Christos, meaning “anointed”, which translates Hebrew and Aramaic to messiah, a title that acknowledged that He was the expected Messiah of Israel.
Born from a virgin, Mary. Jesus was a Jew from Nazareth.
When he was about 30 years old, Jesus was baptized by a prophet, John the Baptist in the Jordan river. While John was praying and just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Holy Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
Then the Holy Spirit sent Jesus into the Judean wilderness for 40 days and he was tempted by Satan. Despite the temptations, Jesus did not sin.
Now Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan river and his temptation in the wilderness were his inauguration to ministry where he chose 12 disciples and did amazing miracles such as healing the sick, restoring the crippled, providing sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, and raising the dead.
Between 29 and 33 AD, Jesus was arrested, tried, and crucified on a cross to save us from our sins. God makes it very clear, the cost of sin is death, and because Jesus never sinned, he atoned for Adam’s and all our sins by dying on the cross as a sinless lamb. Jesus was forced to wear a crown of thorns with a royal purple robe. INRI which is Latin for Iēsus Nazarēnus, Rēx Iūdaeōrum, “Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews” was put on the top of his cross. Jesus is our savior because he restored humanity’s communion with God, with the New Covenant from the Last Supper.
He was buried in a tomb and rose again on the 3rd day. He commanded his disciples to spread the good news and on the 40th day, he ascended back to God the Father, in heaven.
Jesus said he will return to rule, and he will judge the living and the dead.
Now, Jesus is the only way for us to have a relationship with God. He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
The Good News is the Son of God came to Earth, died for our sins, and was raised from the dead, we have the option to have eternal life if we surrender our lives to follow him and repent from our sinful ways.
