What does the Bible say about Tattoos?

There is only one verse in the Bible that addresses tattoos and that is in the book of Leviticus. “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 19:28, NIV) This is the part of the Bible where God is informing Moses what laws the Israelites must follow. In ancient times, it was common for the non-Israelites to mark there bodies in times of grief. This is part of the Old Covenant and not the New Covenant under Jesus Christ. Christians are free to choose if they want tattoos or not.
